Rory Is PGA Player Of Year

Score another win for Rory McIlroy...this time the PGA Tour Player of the Year award. It's the second POY honor for him in the past three years. PGA tour members are the voters for this award.

McIlroy is fresh off a helping Team Europe win the Ryder Cup.

The PGA award is for his play during the tour season. McIlroy won two majors - the British Open and the PGA Championship. He also won the World Golf Championship at Firestone.

He led the tour with 12 top-10 finishes and never finished worse than 25th. McIlroy earned $8.2 million.

Among the golfers up for the award...Jimmy Walker, Martin Kaymer, Bubba Watson and Billy Horschel.

The player of the year award is called the Jack Nicklaus Award.
