Add LB Sterling Sheffield and WR Micah Wright to the list of former UMaine Black Bears getting a shot at the NFL. Both players were signed to free agent contracts after impressing at the rookie tryout camps over the weekend.

Sheffield was invited to the Cincinnati Bengals rookie tryout and was one of three college free agent players signed to a deal.

Wide receiver Micah Wright competed at the Arizona Cardinals rookie mini-camp last weekend and was not offered a deal. But, after competing in the New Orleans Saints rookie mini-camp this weekend, he impressed enough to earn a free agent contract. He was one of four players to sign.

Former UMaine quarterback-turned-tight end, Drew Belcher, had already signed a contract with the Arizona Cardinals shortly after the NFL draft.
