Shires Beat Riots In Class C Showdown
Score the battle between the top two girls soccer teams in Class C North a 3-0 win for Houlton Shiretowners over the Orono Red Riots Saturday afternoon.
The victory puts Houlton at 10-0 and Orono falls to 7-2.
These two teams have battled in several close games in recent years, including Orono's 2-1 win in the regional final last fall. Houlton now owns the regular season sweep this year.
The Shiretowners now have six consecutive shutout wins and have allowed only three goals through their first 10 games.
Senior Kolleen Bouchard scored the first goal in the first half. A corner kick and an assist from Aspen Flewelling.
The Shiretowners scored twice in the second half. Flewelling scored on a direct kick.
The final goal came from Sierra Hoops. Another corner kick and assist from Flewelling.
Houlton outshot Orono 13-6.
The Shires play Fort Kent next while the Red Riots play Old Town.
