Sports Radio 92.9 The Ticket and Hero's Sports Grill in Bangor honor 2019 Sports Hero's Award winners Andy and Shelby Silvernail.

The Silvernails are from Bucksport, now living in the mid-west, but never forget about their hometown and eastern Maine area.

For the past 11 years the Silvernails have awarded thousands of dollars in scholarship money to a Little Ten Football Conference student-athlete for academic achievement and impact on team and community. This year's winner was Bennett Dunstan from Stearns HS.

Earlier this year, the Silvernails gifted funds to help Bucksport High School with equipment for industrial arts, trade education and the robotics team.

Andy is a '89 graduate of Bucksport and played football for the Golden Bucks and Shelby is a '91 Bucksport grad.

For very humble beginnings, Andy graduated from Dartmouth College and Harvard Business School. He is currently CEO of IDEX Corporation. Shelby is a graduate of the University of New England and Boston University. She has dedicated her passion and energy to health care issues.
