University of Maine freshman goalie Jeremy Swayman has been named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week, the fifth weekly honor of the season for the Alaska native.

This is the second-straight week that Swayman has earned the title of Defensive Player of the Week, as last week he and New Hampshire goalie Danny Tirone were both named Co-Defensive Player of the Week.

Swayman led the Black Bears to a pair of road wins this past weekend against the UMass Minutemen, recording 28 saves in each contest.

In addition to Defensive Player of the Week honors, Swayman has been named the Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week twice and Player of the Week. He has earned more weekly honors than any other player in Hockey East this season.

Note: With the sweep of UMass, the Black Bears have climbed to No. 21 in the USCHO.com national poll and No. 21 in the national PairWise rankings.
