Jeremy Swayman made 40 saves and Chase Pearson scored two goals as the UMaine Black Bears beat the BU Terriers 3-1 Saturday night. That means a split of the two games in Boston.

After Mitch Fossier gave Maine a 1-0 lead with a goal in the first period, Pearson scored early in the second to make it 2-0.

BU got on the scoreboard about halfway through the third period on a Bobo Carpenter goal.

Pearson ending things with an empty net goal in the final minutes.

Swayman stopped 40 shots to earn the win in net.

The Black Bears improve to 2-3-1 in Hockey East and 4-5-1 overall.

BU is 3-3-1 and 3-5-1.

The Bears are back home for a weekend series with Quinnipiac on Friday and Saturday.
