Woodland Dragons vs. Van Buren Crusaders

The top-seed Woodland Dragons punched their ticket to the semifinals with a convincing win over the Van Buren Crusaders Monday afternoon at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

The Dragons, the defending regional champions, combined a potent offense and stifling defense to roll to a 76-29 win over the No. 8 Crusaders.

Captain Chris Plissey led the Dragons with 15 points. Plissey, a junior, was one of 10 Dragons in the scoring column. Alex Morrison had 13 points and senior Gavin Gardner scored 11 points. Sabree Phelps added nine points.

Woodland started quickly, jumping out to a 23-5 lead in the first quarter. The Dragons increased the lead to 42-9 at half.

Woodland hit 12 three-pointers in the game.

Junior Luc Perreault had 14 points to lead Van Buren.

Woodland will face Schenck in the regional semifinal at 3:35 p.m. on Thurs., Feb. 21 at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

Van Buren finishes the season at 10-8.
