True Falls Just Short Of Rio Games
The 2016 US Olympic Qualifiers in the men's 5,000 meter was one Mainer that Ben True will not soon forget.
True ran the event at 13:36.40 on Saturday night and finished in fifth place overall, which put him two spots away from the top three overall he need to place to qualify for the 2016 Rio Games. True was just .48 seconds away from reaching the Olympic team.
The Yarmouth native reportedly was "dejected" according to LetsRun.com. True had placed third overall in the qualifying heat leading up to the race earlier in the week.
Fellow Mainer Riley Masters of Glenburn finished in 16th place with a time of 14:18.49.
