Tyler Walsh, son of the former UMaine coach Shawn Walsh, has been named assistant hockey coach at Colby College in Waterville.

Walsh had been head coach at North Yarmouth Academy and an assistant coach with the USA Hockey National Team Development program.

He will work under head coach Blaise MacDonald who led the Mules to their season best ever, including a spot in the NCAA Division III Frozen Four last year.

"Tyler has had some great experiences in his young coaching career and worked with some very good coaches," MacDonald said. "He has big shoes to fill, but he will embrace the challenge and continue to move our program in a positive direction. I am very excited to welcome Tyler to Colby Hockey." - Colby Press Release

Walsh is a UMaine grad and began his coaching career as a student assistant coach under Tim Whitehead in 2012-13.

Tyler's father led UMaine hockey to two NCAA national titles.
