
UConn Beats Maine 5-1, Series Split
The UMaine hockey team will have to settle for an opening weekend split after UConn beat the Bears 5-1 Saturday night at Alfond Arena.
The Huskies scored a goal five minutes into the game and never trailed. They added a powerplay goal late in the period and added another one early in the second period to take a commanding 3-0 lead.
A minute into the the third period Brendan Robbins scored Maine's only goal.
But 26 seconds later, the Huskies answered with a goal and then finished a late goal to make the final 5-1.
Maine's freshman goalie Jeremy Swayman made 26 saves. UConn Adam Huska made 38.
The 1-1 Black Bears are off next weekend before hosting Miami (Ohio) October 20th and 21st.
