The Hockey East regular season champion UMass took the UMaine team to the woodshed Saturday night, beating the Black Bears 6-0.

The #2 nationally ranked Minutemen outshot Maine 39-16.

UMass scored twice in the first period and then four more times in the second.

The Minutemen had just wrapped up the school's first Hockey East regular season title Thursday night and were playing their final home game of the season. With one road game left on their schedule, the Minutemen are 18-5 in Hockey east and 26-7 overall.

UMaine drops to 10-9-4 HE and 14-15-4 overall with a home game vs Boston University left in the regular season.

The Black Bears sit in 6th place and it appears they will enter the playoffs either in 6th or 7th place.
