We'd like to congratulate Alex Bertrand of MCI  for being named this week's McDonald's High School Athlete of the Week!

Bertrand  rushed for 106 yards and 3 touchdowns in last week's 46-18 win over Orono. On defense, the junior had 10 tackles including a sack and an interception as the first place Huskies improved to 7-0.

Bertrand's performance put him ahead of senior Riley Coburn of Mattanawcook Academy, who had an impressive week in his own right. The senior had 7 goals and 4 assists in helping the Lynx win 3 games and guaranteeing the first winning season in school history for the boys soccer team.

There were more than 5,600 votes cast, with Bertrand netting about 60 percent of those. Here are the final results:
