Five local student-athletes are up for First National Bank High School Athlete of the Week honors.

This week's nominees are Camille Kohtala of Orono, Zach Beaton of Hermon, Cayden Spencer-Thompson of Mattanawcook, Maddy Candage of MDI and Lexi Thibodeau of Old Town.

Camille Kohtala of Orono broke her own league record in the long jump with a leap of 18-2 3/4 at the University of Maine on Saturday. The senior finished second in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.56 seconds, just behind Penquis Valley High School senior Cymeria Robshaw's first-place time of 7.54.

Zach Beaton of Hermon won three events at the PVC-EMITL competition on Saturday. He won the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.09, picked up another win in the 200m with a time of 23.70 and added a third win with a 5-10 leap in the high jump.

Cayden Spencer-Thompson 1

Cayden Spencer-Thompson of Mattanawcook Academy won the long jump at Saturday's competition with a leap of 22-1.25. The senior also won the triple jump with a leap of 47-5. Spencer-Thompson will continue his track and field career at division one Louisville next fall.

Maddy Candage of MDI scored a game-high 18 points in Saturday's 52-37 victory in Presque Isle. Candage added a team-high 15 points in the Trojans' 54-49 win over Old Town on Wednesday. She was fifth in the Big East in scoring at 12.3 points per game when the conference recently released statistics for games played through Jan. 19.

Lexi Thibodeau of Old Town scored 12 points in the Coyotes' victory over Hermon on Friday night, matching a team-high in scoring along with sophomore guard Hannah Richards. Old Town handed Hermon its first loss of the season with a thrilling 40-37 victory. In Wednesday's 54-49 loss to MDI, Thibodeau tallied a game-high 24 points.

Voting is restricted to once every 24 hours. Voting ends at 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30.
