Maine's state amateur champion, Jack Wyman, lost a chance to play Pebble Beach in California and the U.S.Amateur Championship. Wyman lost in the first hole of sudden death playoff at the qualifier in York Monday afternoon.

Wyman and Massachusetts amateur Matthew Cowgill both shot 3-under par scores after 38 holes of competition.

Patrick Frodigh of Massachusetts shot a blistering 11-under par to capture the first qualifying spot.

Cowgill gets the second spot.

Wyman will be the first alternate.

Husson University golfer Gavin Dugas shot a 1-under par score and tied for 5th place.
