Lawrence, Marks Get America East Awards

A pair of UMaine baseball players received America East honors for their play last week.Tommy Lawrence is the Pitcher of the Week after going the distance against Stony Brook in a 1-0 win to open conference play. Lawrence allowed just seven hits while striking out seven.

Pitcher Jake Marks earned his first rookie of the week honor. Marks also threw a complete game shutout with eight strikeouts and three hits to help Maine get an 8-0 win over Florida Atlantic. On Sunday Marks closed out the Bears win over Stony Brook with a perfect inning of relief.

Maine will play its home opener this week against Hartford with a double header on Saturday and a single game on Sunday.
