UMaine baseballl dropped its first game at the America East Conference Tournament in New York. A 5-0 loss to UMass Lowell. It puts the Black Bears in must-win mode this evening against either Hartford and Binghamton.

The River Hawks jumped on Maine pitcher Cody Laweryson for four runs in the first two innings. Oscar Marchena hit a two-run home run in the 1st inning. Mark Tumosa had a two-run triple in the 2nd. Tumosa added another RBI hit later in the game.

UML pitcher Nick Rand went eight strong innings to hold the Bears scoreless..

Laweryson struck out a season-high 12 over seven innings but suffered the loss.

The (15-32) Black Bears will try to stay alive in the AE Tourney tonight at 6pm.
