The University of Maine hockey team dropped their regular season finale 5-2 to the Providence Friars and finish 10th in the final standings.The Friars jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first period and the Bears never could comeback. Providence would add another goal in the second before the Bears would get on the board on a goal by Dan Ranouf.

The loss drops Maine down to 10th in the standings which means they have to travel to Vermont to play the Catamounts in the first round of the Hockey East playoffs. The playoffs will be a best of three series and begins Friday. UMaine's overall record now stands at 13-20-3, and finish Hockey East play at 8-12-2.
