Bowdoin Loses In NESCAC Title Game
The Bowdoin College Polar Bears 26 game win streak and season-long run as the nation's #1 D-III women's team came to an end Sunday afternoon. Tufts beat Bowdoin 75-69 in the NESCAC championship game.
That means the (25-2) Jumbos get the conference automatic NCAA playoff qualifier. The (26-1) Polar Bears need an at large bid to get into the field.
It seems Bowdoin would get a bid after being ranked #1 all year and coming off a national runner up finish last year. The NCAA selection show in Monday afternoon at 2:30pm.
In Sunday's title game, Tufts Jac Knapp scored 25 points to lead the Jumbos. Up three points after three quarters of play, Tufts outscored Bowdoin 23-18 inthe fourth quarter.
Maddie Hasson had 20 to lead Bowdoin.
NOTES: St. Joseph's College is another undefeated team from Maine that fell in their conference championship game. The Monks were 27-0 and nationally ranked in the top 10 but Emmanuel College beat St. Joe's 65-64 to claim the GNAC Conference title. Now the Monks await a possible at large bid...The Husson Eagles won their NAC conference title Saturday to claim their automatic bid.
