Broncos Beat Brewer 5-1, Move Into 3rd Place
Senior righty Alex McKenney pitched a complete game four-hitter as the Hampden Broncos beat #2 ranked Brewer 5-1 at Bordick Park Monday night. It is the second time in a week that McKenney has beaten the Witches.
The victory moves the (10-4) Broncos into third place in Class A North with two games to play.
McKenney allowed just four hits, three of them were infield hits. He struck out nine, walked one and hit a batter.
At the plate, McKenney had a RBI single, a double and a walk.
The Broncos jumped ahead with three unearned runs in the first inning. Andrew Gendreay added a RBI hit in the third and Brandon Smith had a RBI hit in the fifth.
Hampden will host Brunswick next on Thursday. Brewer hosts Lewiston on Wednesday.
