On a cold and windy Friday night, the Foxcroft Ponies beat the Bucksport Golden Bucks 34-0 to claim the Class D North championship and the right to play in the state title game.

The Ponies had that strong wind at their backs in the first quarter and put 20 points on the board to take command of the game. QB Nick Clawson tossed a 31-yard TD pass to Hyatt Smith for one score. Clawson ran for an 18-yard TD. And, a blocked punt led to a scoop and score by Cody Labbe for the third TD.

Clawson rushed for 180 yards and threw for another 99 yards to lead the Ponies offense. He also had two interceptions on defense.

Foxcroft picked off Bucks QB Chase Carmichael four times.

The (8-2) Ponies now meet either Wells or Madison for the Class D state title next Saturday in Portland.

Bucksport finishes the season at 6-4.
