The Husson Eagles roared back from a 13 point deficit in the second half to beat Bates College 80-78 Tuesday night at Newman Gymnasium in Bangor.

The Bobcats did have a chance to score a walk-off win when Kody Greenhaigh missed a three-pointer at the buzzer.

Bates had won the last seven meetings between the two schools.

The win puts Husson at 6-1. Bates drops to 2-5.

Bates took a seven point lead (48-41) into halftime and then expanded it to as high as 13 points in the second half.

The Eagles came charging back and with 4:40 to play grabbed a 70-69 lead and never gave it up.

Freshman Brett Cunningham hit for 15 second half points and had a game-high 24 to lead Husson.

D.J. Bussey added 16 and Justin Martin gave the Eagles another double-double, 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Former Hampden Academy standout, Nick Gilpin, had 15 points and five assists for the Bobcats. Jeff Spellman led Bates with 21.
