Maine's Ryan Flaherty and the Baltimore Orioles have avoided going to salary arbitration by reaching a one year deal worth $1.075 million.

Flaherty has been an important utility guy for the Birds. He has played all four infield positions as well as corner outfield spots. His contract last season was $512,000.

The deal gives Flaherty bonus money if he makes the allstar squad or gets in the running for some post season awards. He also gets bonus money for reaching 400 plate appearances. Flaherty had 312 ABs last season.

Flaherty played in high school ball at Deering HS and is the son of USM baseball coach Ed Flaherty.
