Jimmy Howard Injures Knee
Former UMaine goalie and now Detroit Red Wing goalie Jimmy Howard will be out of action for two to four weeks with a knee injury. The Wings are saying Howard has a Grade 1 MCL sprain.
Howard last played Tuesday night in a shootout loss to Florida. He had lost some playing time to backup goalie Jonas Gustavsson. Howard's stats are: 6-8-7 with a 2.65 GAA.
Detroit GM Ken Holland says Howard is likely out for 2 to 4 weeks.
It could very well end his chances of making the USA Olympic team. He was one of six goalies in contention and that team will be chosed January 1st.
