Cody Laweryson did his job on the hill and Joe Bramanti did his job with the bat as the UMaine Black Bears beat UMBC 9-2 Sunday afternoon. The win gives Maine the America East weekend series two games to one.

Laweryson struck out 10 in seven innings of work. He scattered three hits, three walks and gave up two runs. Laweryson gets his first win of the year.

At the plate, the Black Bears pounded out 11 hits. Three of them were by 6-foot-4 first baseman Joe Bramanti. He drove in four runs.

Danny Casals and Colin Ridley each had two hits.

The victory puts Maine at 3-5 In America East play and 4-22 overall.

UMBC is 2-6 and 14-13.
