The Bangor school board has approved Husson University assistant coach Brad Libby to be the new Rams boys varsity basketball coach.

Libby will take over the Bangor program from Carl Parker, who resigned following an OUI charge back in February.

The Bangor boys team finished with a 9-9 record and a #5 seed in Class AA North last season. The Rams lost in the quarterfinal round to Windham.

Libby was a three-sport player at Brewer High School.

He went on to play four years of basketball at Husson University from 2009 to 2012. As a senior, Libby led the North Atlantic Conference in three-point shooting percentage at 45.4%. The Eagles won two NAC titles and played in two NCAA Tournaments while LIbby was a player.

Libby has been an assistant coach under Eagles coach Warren Caruso for the past six years.

He earned at Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology from Husson in 2011 and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2013.

LIbby owns Performance Physical Therapy and Sports Rehabilitation, a company that has offices in Bangor and Brewer.
