The Maine Field Hockey, ranked 4th in America East gave the #1 Vermont Catamounts all they could handle for 80 minutes on Tuesday in the America East semifinals. The game was scoreless after regulation, and 2 10-minute sudden-death overtime periods. With the game going to a shootout Vermont won 3-1 in the shootout to win the game 1-0.

Maine outshot Vermont 16-12  and had a 2-1 advantage in the 1st overtime and 6-2 advantage in the 2nd overtime.

Maine had a 9-5 advantage in penalty corners, but just weren't able to put the ball in the back of the goalie box.

Maine finishes their season with a 7-11 record while Vermont improves to 10-7. The Catamounts will host UNH for the America East Championship on Friday, November 7th at 1 p.m. UNH advanced to the Championship, beating Albany 6-4 on Tuesday.
