Maturo Wins Maine Gatorade Player of the Year

Bonny Eagle High School RB/DB Zach Maturo is the 2019 Maine Gatorade Player of the Year.

The senior led the (11-1) Scots to the Class A state championship two weeks ago. Maturo rushed for 1,264 yards and 23 touchdowns. He had 43 tackles and two fumble recoveries on defense.

The has already won the Class A Player of the Year honor and is a semi-finalist for the Fitzpatrick Trophy Award given to the top senior player in the state.

As part of the Gatorade "Play It Forward" program, Maturo gets to award a $1,000 grant to a local youth sports organization of his choice.
