Former UMaine women's basketball coach Joanne P. McCallie has been given a contract extension to continue her tenure as the head coach of the Duke program.

Former UMaine athletic director and current Duke AD Kevin White announced the extension that will keep McCallie under contract through the 2020-21 season.  She has been with Duke for 10 seasons and helped the team to nine NCAA Tournament appearances while having a 273-71 record with the Blue Devils.

McCallie had been under investigation last year due to a report of player complaints about mistreatment against the head coach, but was later retained and guided the Duke side to a 28-6 record and an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2016-17.

She was the coach with UMaine for eight seasons and guided the Black Bears to seven straight 20 win seasons.  She was also honored with a retired number at an event by the school in 2009.
