The Maine Maritime Academy football team hit the field for the first time today down in Castine. The Mariners play their opening game September 7th.

Chris McKenney begins his 19th season as Mariners head coach, making him the longest tenured coach with the same program in the state.

MMA suffered through a 0-9  season last fall, playing in the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).

The Mariners struggled on offense, scoring just 64 in the nine games. Richard Puccio takes over as new offensive coordinator. He was the OC at Hamilton College for the past five years.

Defensively, the Mariners gave up 362 yards per game.

Training camp continues in preparation for the opener at Maritime (NY). The conference schedule includes games against MIT and Springfield College, both have been nationally ranked in recent years.
