The Husson Eagles and MMA Mariners split a North Atlantic Conference hoops doubleheader in Castine Friday night. The Eagles women's team won 57-48 while the Mariners men's team scored the win 69-63.

Husson Women 57  MMA 48:  This battle between two teams entering the game at 4-0 was close all night. The Eagles led by three after one quarter, the Mariners led by two at the half and the Eagles came back to lead by two at the end of three quarters.

In the final quarter, Husson outscored MMA 17-10 with Bailey Donovan and Sami Ireland combining to score 13 of the 17 points.

Ireland finished the night with 17 points. Donvan finished with 15.

Melinda Ogden led the Mainers with 12 and Lauren Plissey had 11.

The Eagles improve to 5-0 in the NAC (8-7 overall). The Mariners are 4-1 and 12-4.

MMA Men 69  Husson 63:  The Mariners men beat the Eagles for the first time since 2012.

After each team went on early runs to take leads the game settled in and was close all night.

With 4:30 to play, MMA's Malachi Reincke scored a three point play and the Mariners had the lead for good at 62-60.

The Mariners put the game away in the final minutes with free throws.

MMA hit on 56% of their field goals, Husson just 37%.

Reincke led MMA with 18 points. Nick DePasty had 16.

Scott Lewis had 17 and Derek Collin had 11 for the Eagles.

The Mariners get the first NAC win, now 1-4 (3-10 overall). Husson falls to 4-1 and 6-8.
