NCAA Playoffs: Bears Head West
The UMaine football team took off from Bangor and bound for Ogden, Utah and the NCAA quarterfinal playoff game tomorrow night vs Weber State.
The trip is 2,594 miles from Orono and that makes it the second longest road game in UMaine football history. (A 2004 game at Missoula, Montana is the longest at 2,791 miles).
Friday night's game is the eighth road game of the season.
When the Black Bears get there, Stewart Stadium is going to look similar to Alfond Stadium (above). Ogden got a little snow over the last day or so.
The Bears are trying to set some more school history. After winning their first ever second round game last Saturday beating Jacksonville State 55-27, the team will try to win a first-ever quarterfinal round playoff game. Maine is 0-3 in the quarterfinals.
It is the first time the two schools have met on the gridiron so check the Tale of the Tape...
