NY Islanders coach Jack Capuano headlines this year's UMaine Sports Hall of Fame induction list. The former Black Bear hockey defenseman led his NY team to the NHL playoffs, losing to Pittsburgh in six games.

Capuano captained Maine hockey back in 1987-88. He scored 32 goals and had 89 assists for 121 points in 124 career games as a defenseman in a Black Bear uniform.

Others to be inducted into the school's hall of fame include baseball player Chad White, basketball player Francois Bouchard, swimmer Susan Herrick Lizzotte, football player Carleton "Speed" Merritt and Gerard LaFlamme from track and field.

Inductions ceremonies are set for September 13th.
