Maine Junior Golf Championship Day 1 [SCORES]

Newcastle's Bailey Plourde came up a little short vs Staci Creech for the Maine Women's Amateur Golf title but today she begins her quest of back-to-back Maine Junior Amateur championships.

Bailey and about 80 other young boys and girls play at Val Halla GC in Cumberland today and tomorrow for  the Maine Junior Championships.

There are five flights, Boys & Girls 15-18 year-olds, Boys &  Girls 13-15 year-olds and a 12-year-old and under division.

It is two days of stroke play competition.

The MSGA has sponsored the Junior Championshp since 1934

Past winners include Jimmy Veno, Mark Plummer, Lennie Cole, Shawn Warren, Jesse Speirs, Ryan Gay and last year's champ Logan Thomason from Lincoln.
