Dave Morris won his first game as head coach of the Bangor Rams but it was anything but easy on a cold and misty Friday afternoon. A 7-5 victory over the Lewiston Blue Devils.

The Rams grabbed a 3-0 lead in the 3rd inning with two hits and three walks.

Lewiston answered with two runs in the next half inning and it settled into a one run game.

Until the bottom of the 6th.

Bangor sent nine batters to the plate, four of them scored. The Rams got key two out RBI hits from Nick and Zac Cowperthwaite and took a 7-2 lead.

But the Blue Devils came back in the top of the 7th with three runs and left the bases loaded.

Gary Farnham got the win for Bangor, Nick Cowperthwaite picked up the save.

The two Cowperthwaites combined for four hits and four RBI. Tyler Parke added two hits and a RBI.

Bangor wins the season opener and will host Brewer Monday afternoon. Lewiston falls to 0-2.
