The STATS FCS Preseason national poll places the UMaine Black Bears as the #7 ranked team in the country and the second highest ranked CAA team.

Five team from the CAA are ranked in the national top-25. The Black Bears play two of those teams (Towson, Elon). Maine also plays Colgate in a non-conference game. The Raiders are ranked #13 in the country.

The Bears are coming off a 10-4 season that came to a stop at the NCAA semi-final round. Eight starters on defense and seven on offense return for the 2019 season.

This is day five of the UMaine preseason camp going on in Orono. Opening night game is  August 30th vs Sacred Heart University.
