The top-seed Southern Aroostook Warriors defeated the Jonesport-Beals girls Monday afternoon to earn a spot in the Class D North semifinals.

Although the No. 9 Royalettes were able to hang with the Warriors at times, Southern Aroostook extended its lead in the second half on the way to a 71-39 quarterfinal victory at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

Captains Kassidy Mathers and Makaelyn Porter each scored 16 points in the win. Freshman center Kacey Daggett added 14 points for the Warriors. Sydney Brewer had 11 points.

For Jonesport-Beals, Kaylee Ireland had 13 points. Alexsis Sprowl had 11 points.

Southern Aroostook will face No. 5 Katahdin in the semifinals at 3:35 p.m. on Thursday at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
