UM Women’s Basketball Announces Non-Conference Schedule
The University of Maine women's basketball program announced the team's 2017-18 non-conference schedule on Monday morning.
Among the games scheduled for the Black Bears include home contests versus Tulane, Bryant, and either Bryant or Harvard as part of the Tip-off tournament. Maine will also be a part of the Miami Tournament and will square off versus the Hurricanes on November 24th. The Black Bears are also slated to face Toledo, Ohio State, Dartmouth, Mississippi State, Duke, and Boston College on the road before conference play gets underway in January of 2018.
Seven of the teams on the schedule made the NCAA tournament a year ago, with nine possible opponents making a postseason tournament of some variety in 2017. Mississippi State was part of the Tip-Off tournament last season at the Cross Insurance Center and was the National Runners-up in the tournament in 2017. The Black Bears will also meet a familiar face to the program on December 19th as they will travel to face Joanne P. McCallie and the Duke Blue Devils.
Maine will start the season versus Stonehill on October 28th in an exhibition and will also play University of Maine at Fort Kent on November 16th, and Maine Maritime Academy on December 5th in Bangor.
