The start time of UMaine football's first scrimmage of preseason camp was moved up Monday due to the high heat and humidity blanketing the area.

The Black Bears were originally set to begin the scrimmage at 2:15 p.m.

The team moved the scrimmage to 11 a.m., with warmups expected to begin at 10:30 a.m.

The National Weather Service in Caribou predicted a high temperature of about 93 degrees for Bangor with heat index values as high as 97.

The scrimmage and all camp practices on Morse Field at Alfond Stadium are open to the public.
