UMaine Softball’s Kyleigh O’Donnell Named Rookie Of The Week

After impressive outings last week against UMass Lowell and UMBC, University of Maine softball pitcher Kyleigh O'Donnell has been named the America East Rookie of the Week.

In 11 and 2/3 innings of work, O'Donnell allowed no earned runs and just five hits, while striking out 18.

In Maine's 3-0 win against UMass Lowell on April 11 -- game two of a doubleheader -- O'Donnell pitched seven scoreless innings and allowed just two hits while striking out a career-high 12 batters.

In Saturday's 5-3 win against UMBC -- also game two of a doubleheader -- O'Donnell pitched 4 and 2/3 innings, allowing two unearned runs, three hits and four walks while striking out six.

The Black Bears return to action Wednesday, when they'll play a doubleheader on the road against Rhode Island.
