
UMaine Women’s Basketball Beats UMBC In America East Quarterfinal
The University of Maine women's basketball team advanced to the next round of the America East Tournament with a 65-43 quarterfinal win over UMBC Saturday at Cross Insurance Arena in Portland.
Blanca Millan scored a game-high 21 points for the Black Bears, and Tanesha Sutton added 11 points and 10 rebounds, her seventh career double-double.
The win advances Maine to the semifinal round of the tournament, where it will face UNH in a rematch of last season's semifinal matchup between the two teams. Maine defeated New Hampshire 61-52, and then lost to UAlbany in the America East Title game.
The upcoming semifinal matchup between the Black Bear's and Wildcats will be played Sunday at 2 p.m. at Cross Insurance Arena.
