
Maine Women Pick Up Their 1st Win of the Season Beating Stonehill 79-53
The Maine Women's Basketball Team picked up their 1st win of the season on Monday night, November 17th beating Stonehill 79-53.
Maine led 17-10 at the end of the 1st Quarter and 39-22 at the end of the 1st Half. The Black Bears were comfortably up 66-33 at the end of the 3rd Quarter.
Adrianna Smith led the way for Maine with a double-double finishing with 26 points and 13 rebounds in 27 minutes. She also had a block and 2 steals. Smith is now just the 2nd player in UMaine Women's Basketball history with 1200 points, 700 rebounds and 300 assists, joining Liz Wood. Smith after Monday's game has 1243 points, 752 rebounds and 300 assists!
Asta Blauenfeldt had 14 points and Lizzy Gruber finished with 13 points.
Maine shot an incredible 46.4 percent from the field. They were 6-21 from beyond the 3-point arc and 9-15 from the free throw line.
Maine dominated the boards, outrebounding Stonehill 45-31. Maine had 44 points in the paint, compared to Stonehill's 26 points. Maine's defense forced Stonehill to turn the ball over 22 times.
Stonehill was led by Brooke Paquette with 13 points while Bella Mallory had 12 points.
Stonehill shot 36.4 percent from the field and were 5-17 from beyond the 3-point arc. They were 8-15 from the free throw line.
Stonehill is now 3-2 while Maine is 1-3.

Maine doesn't play at home until Monday, December 1st when they will host Boston University at 6 p.m.
