Mother Nature is causing big problems in Portland for the first round of the New England Amateur Golf Championship Tournament.

Thunderstorms and rain suspended play in the early afternoon with many players on the course and many others yet to tee off.

Rhode Island golfer Ryan Pelletier has the best score, 3-under par through 16 holes.

The top Maine scorer is Auburn's Brian Bilodeau at 1-under par through 15 holes.
