Boston College senior Austin Cangelosi and his Eagles teammates were too much for the UMaine Black Bears Friday night in Portland. A 6-1 win for BC and it drops Maine below .500 for the first time this season.

Cangelosi had a hat trick, scoring three consecutive goals - a shorthanded goal, a powerplay goal and an even strength goal.

UMaine's lone goal came from Dane Gibson. It was a powerplay goal and it gave the Bears a 1-0.

From that point on, BC scored six unanswered goals.

Maine falls to 3-4-2 (HE 0-1). Boston College is 7-2-1 (HE 3-0-1).

Attendance at the Cross Arena in Portland was 4,621. Game two of the series is tonight at Alfond Arena in Orono.
