The UMaine hockey team scored two third period goals to earn a 2-2 tie with UConn Saturday afternoon.

The Black Bears get one point out of four over the weekend in the Hockey East standings.

Trailing 2-0, the Bears got a powerplay goal from Chase Pearson and then got a Jacob Schmidt-Svejstrup goal with just over a minute to play to tie the game. Maine had pulled the goalie to get an extra attacker.

Neither team could score in overtime.

Black Bears goalie Jeremy Swayman made 26 saves. UConn's Adam Huska made 32.

UMaine's record is now 2-3-1 overall (0-1-1 HE).

After four road games, the Bears return to Alfond Arena Friday and Saturday to host UMass Lowell.
