It is fair to say the UMaine hockey power play is ready for regular season action. In a Monday night exhibition game against the University of Prince Edward Island (Canada), the Black Bears scored four times with a man advantage and beat PEI 6-1.

The Panthers took 14 minor penalties. Maine took eight.

Mitch Fossier scored the first two goals of the game on first period power plays.

Freshman forward Jacob Schmidt-Svejstrup from Denmark scored the other two man advantage goals. Both Schmidt-Svejstrup Fossier added an assist each.

Jeremy Swayman, Stephen Mundinger and Rob McGovern each played a period in goal.

The regular season begins this weekend for the Black Bears when they host St. Lawrence Friday and Saturday nights at Alfond Arena.
