Two-time Maine Women's Amateur golf champion Staci Creech has advanced to the round-of-64 match play competition at the USGA Women's Mid-Amateur national tournament.

Creech struggled on the back nine of the second day of medal play Sunday. She shot an 82 (+10) but her two day medal play score of 162 (+18) puts her in a tie for 61st place. It means she will get to match play competition starting Monday.

The USGA Mid-Amateur field is made up of 132 amateur players from around the world, age 25 and older. It is the 30th year for the championship which is designed to showcase top golfers who are beyond the college age.

Golfers play two rounds of stroke play and then the top 64 scorers move to match play competition.

Staci Creech is the wife of UMaine athletic director Karlton Creech. She won her second consecutive WMSGA title in July. She is a former college player and has played a variety of USGA tournaments over the years.
