Former UMaine SS In NY-Penn League
Former UMaine Black Bear shortstop Mike Fransoso is off to a flying start to his pro career. In his first 13 games Fransoso is hitting .366 - fourth best in the NY-Penn League.
Fransoso was drafted in the 27th round last month by the Pittsburgh Pirates and he was sent to their rookie league team in Jamestown, Pennsylvania. His team is 8-5 and in first place in their division.
Fransoso finished his brilliant career at UMaine back in May. He plays shortstop for the Jammers and along with batting .366, he's got 5 RBI and 5 steals. His OBP is .518.
