In the cold and rain of Castleton, Vermont, the Husson Eagles kept it on the ground and pounded the Spartans with a heavy dose of freshman running back Solomon Hassan. Final score, Husson 48 Castleton 0.

The victory puts the Eagles at 5-0 in the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) and 6-2 overall. Husson can wrap up the conference title and a NCAA bid with a win over Gallaudet University next Saturday.

The Eagles ran the ball 53 times vs Castleton while throwing it just 13 times. It worked as they racked up 353 yards on the ground.

Hassan carried the bulk of the load - 24 carries, 154 yards and four touchdowns.

Miece Loureiro had 77 yards on seven carries.

The Eagles defense held the Spartans to a total of 193 yards. The unit had a fumble recovery and a score (Zach Connolly) and had two interceptions.

On special teams, Quan Soyini had a 67-yard punt return for a TD.
