Mack Granted Release From UMaine
The University of Maine football program has officially granted running back Josh Mack his release from the program.
The Walter Payton Award finalist was reportedly interested in a transfer from UMaine earlier this off-season, and the Black Bears granted that request officially on Tuesday afternoon. Mack will look for opportunities now at the FBS level of college football.
Mack was named also named a STATS FCS All-American on Tuesday, adding to an All-ECAC First Team and All-CAA selection this off-season. Mack averaged 133.5 yards per game this season for a total of 1,419, with nine touchdowns in ten games.
As per NCAA restrictions, Mack will have to sit out a full season before being eligible to play at the Division I level in the FBS or FCS.
Jamil Demby was also named a STATS All-American Second Team member for his work as a senior on the offensive line for the Black Bears.
Maine finished the season with a 4-6 record and 3-5 in the CAA.
