
Tough Night for #10 Maine – Fall to #15 Boston College 7-3
It was a tough night for the #10 Maine Black Bears as they fell to #15 Boston College 7-3 at the Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill on Friday night, November 21st
Maine was whistled for 2 penalties in the 1st Period, and Boston College made Maine pay, scoring on both power plays to take a 2-0 lead at the end of the 1st Period.
Boston College made it 3-0 early in the 2nd Period before Owen Fowler put the Black Bears on the scoreboard, with a goal with 6:55 left to play assisted by Frank Djurasevic and Miguel Marques.
BC led 3-1 at the end of the 2nd Period.
Maine drew within 1 goal 20 seconds into the 3rd Period, with Charlie Russell's goal, assisted by Justin Poirier.
BC answered with a goal 3:12 later to make it 4-2.
But with 8:53 gone in the 3rd Period, Maine scored on the power play, when Justin Poirier scored, assisted by Brandon Holt, and Max Scott. That made the score 4-3.
But from there, the wheels fell off the bus, with BC scoring with 7:03 left and 5:03 left to make it 6-3. The Eagles added an empty-netter with 47.5 seconds to play to make it 7-3.
BC was 2-3 on the power play while Maine was 1-3.
Maine outshot BC 38-28 but BC blocked 18 Black Bear shots on the night!
Albin Boija had 21 saves in net for Maine, while Louka Cloutier had 35 saves for BC.
BC is now 7-4-1 overall and 5-2-0 in Hockey East while Maine is 7-5-1 overall and 4-3-0 in Hockey East.
